Well now that we're in a new year I figure I ought to say something. Lousy Christmas holiday, food poisoning and a busted car (600 bucks I didn't necessarily wish to spend) are the things that stand out the most about the time off.
In other news I went and spend most of the day at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). They had recently been closed for a year remodeling the place, several new floors have been added and a new front.
First floor is mostly European works dating back from when the gallery began collection about 100 yrs ago ranging from sculpture to paintings in no real order, just things that seem to work well together.
Basement is a collection of model boats from different eras, many done by French sailors captures during the Napoleon wars. Some are as small as a plate others the size of the whole dining table, many very intrically done using the same methods and materials as the original ship.
Second floor is the Canadiana section, images done by Canadian artists. A lot by the Group of Seven.
Third is a place where meeting could be held so nothing to see.
Forth and fifth were nothing but crap and took me about 5 minutes each to walk through, modern contempary art. The phrase "One born every minute" comes to mind when viewing this stuff. Bath mats thrown upon the floor, 4x4's staked with a vinal sheet tossed a top is not art it's a Colossal Waste of Money.
Things are returning to normal after the long holiday and looking forward to replacing the money spent over Christmas.
